Xinnor announces its participation in the upcoming Lustre Administrators & Developers Workshop, scheduled to be held in Bordeaux on October 5-6, 2023. The company will be presenting a compelling talk titled “Optimizing Lustre Throughput in a Software RAID Environment: Configuration tips and Performance Insights”.

The Lustre Administrators & Developers Workshop serves as a premier platform for Lustre administrators and developers from across the globe to convene, share experiences, discuss developments, tools, best practices, and much more. It’s a must-attend event for those deeply involved in the Lustre ecosystem.

Xinnor’s talk aims to guide attendees through the process of defining test objectives or hypotheses for both single-threaded and multi-threaded IOR tests. Attendees can expect to gain valuable insights into the measurements and estimations that should be conducted before installing Lustre. Additionally, the presentation will include a comparison between the IOR tool and fio, a popular benchmark for block storage systems, shedding light on their respective merits and demerits.

The presentation will also explore the influence of Linux and virtual machines on large-block sequential IO operations, offering a comprehensive examination of factors affecting result stability and reproducibility. Particularly noteworthy will be the discussion surrounding the impact of a software RAID engine as a backend in Lustre environments.

In the concluding segment of the presentation, Xinnor will zero in on the performance implications stemming from Lustre clients, offering attendees a well-rounded understanding of Lustre throughput optimization.
